Ibiza party Rumors took over a backstreet in Shoreditch
In town for his label showcase in Room 1 of Fabric, Guy Gerber threw a street party at Shoreditch, London last Saturday. The city was already in celebration mode with Pride taking place the same day. Bas Ibellini, Acid Mondays, Bill Patrick and dOP all played throughout the day in East London before Guy took over for the final two hours.
The pull of Rumors its beautiful set design, plus the otherworldly journey through house and techno the crowd is taken on by Gerber and his guests. Hear some of the tracks that we were treated to below.
Looking like a jungle, the DJ booth is bordered with plants. Packed up and transported to London for this event, it will fly out for more Rumors showcases this summer in Moscow, Mykonos and Italian island Sardinia.
For an open-air event, the sound was surprisingly good, hitting us in all the right places and there were cocktails and hot food available. One drawback was that the street selected for this shindig was a little too narrow for the volume of attendees from London, Europe and beyond.
Thankfully the facilities at this pop-up party were actual toilets and there was barely ever a queue. On top of the great music selected, another highlight was how the glass buildings in the nearby financial quarter of London reflected an orange glow at sunset.
Free Ibiza party Rumors takes place at Pacha’s luxury resort Destino every Sunday. This year they’ve already invited Sven Vath, Cassy and Lauren Lane to play the glamorous and trendy party. Guy Gerber will be in back in London on September 9 to play the Roundhouse in Camden.
