We look back on 27 years of Space Ibiza

Space Ibiza celebrates 27 years of defining clubbing in Ibiza on Sunday. Space originally opened in 1986 next to the waterpark in Playa d’en Bossa. Long before the towering hotels and lines of bars that we recognise today were built. The area would transform from family orientated to a clubber’s heaven on earth.

Pepe Rosello took over Space and re-launched the club in 1989, opening doors at 8am. A few years later the original open-air terrace went from a chill out area to a dancefloor. The three room club was the place to be, as Pepe recalls, “People started coming directly to Space with their suitcases, even before checking into their hotels.” On Space’s clock, ravers lost countless hours and DJ careers were born, even David Guetta rocked the terrace.
