Carola took the reigns at Amnesia once again

Marco Carola drew the masses to his Music On residency in Amnesia last Friday for the third week running this season. The night entailed visits from Green Velvet, Stacey Pullen and Paco Osuna who played a surprise B2B with Carola.

Packing out the San Rafael club is never a problem for the Italian party, which has reinvented the weekend in Ibiza for five summers now. Upon entrance, Paco Osuna was in the latter half of taking the terrace through its paces, pulsating Amnesia’s brick walls to the Emanuel Satie Rework of ‘I Get Deep’.

Music On has gone all out with astounding visuals this season to compliment their futuristic club sound. Adding to spotlights, a 3D led installation and lasers, are screens and lighting beams running down the length of the terrace, exploding the rooms with blasts of light. The addition of a massive rotating Music On symbol is the real showstopper of this year’s decor, sporadically illuminating the room like the North Star, hovering above the heads of thousands of sweaty and smiling clubbers.

A red illuminated version of the iconic Music On logo also revolved in the main room under those surrendering to the sounds of Green Velvet. The Cajual Records owner maintained the harder hitting sound of the main room, with ‘Hit It n Quit It’ from his hometown Chicago, before clasping a microphone for vocal inputs on his track ‘Lazer Beams’.

Back in the terrace with Green Velvet’s, “meet me at the club” line ringing in our ears, Marco Carola joined Osuna for an unannounced B2B, matching each other’s pace throughout to keep the party pumping.

Stacey Pullen took over in the main room at 4am, while Carola went solo, showing why people follow him around the world with his culinary mixing skills of chopped up hi-hats and crunching bass lines. A Bee Gees sample on Rampa’s ‘Falk’ ran through the terrace at 5am, followed by big bad bass on Timo Maas’ 2000 remix of ‘Dooms Night’, into ‘Mama, I’m Gonna Sing’ (Jamie Jones remix).

Knowing how to work his crowd, the Naples DJ adjusts volumes to amplify a kick drum, properly smashing it out the speakers. Cascading tunes to deliver higher energies again and again. Recently released ‘Silent Type’ by Vila fed the dawn lit space in the notorious morning hours clubbers come to experience with Music On.

A demigod of the terrace, Marco packs the old or familiar with the new to deliver a party on the cutting-edge, developing every year and showing no signs of slowing down.
